Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to enjoy family time and show gratitude by giving back. Camps and events throughout Oklahoma City are helping families do all that and more. Below, find a list of things to do over Thanksgiving break. Also, be sure to check out these Oklahoma City charities seeking volunteers and Oklahoma City craft shows for local holiday shopping.

Our friends with Oklahoma City Public Schools Native American Student Services have compiled and provided resources so that both Native and non-Native families can learn more about historical events from a Native perspective heritage including the Thanksgiving Story.

Thanksgiving Break Camps

Nov. 22, 25-27 & 29

Thanksgiving Break Kids Camp at Artsy Rose Academy

7739 W Hefner Rd, OKC

Kids ages 5 to 13 can engage in art-making activities including drawing, loom band bracelets, Perler beads, painting and more. Each day features new activities. $59 per day. 9 a.m.-4 p.m.


Nov. 25-26

Thanksgiving Break Camps at Science Museum Oklahoma

2020 Remington Pl, OKC

Kids in grades PreK through 6th can explore different STEM principles including hibernation, math and more. $50-$110. 9 a.m.-noon or 9 a.m.-3:45 p.m.

Explorers Day Camp: Thanksgiving Break at Sam Noble Museum

2401 Chautauqua Ave, Norman

Kids ages 5 to 11 can take part in activities, crafts, games and gallery tours exploring natural history. Members, $40 per day; nonmembers, $70 per day. 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Thanksgiving Holiday Art Camp at Edmond Fine Arts

27 E Edwards St, Edmond

Kids rotate between four classes to create multiple fall and Thanksgiving themed art projects. For kids grades in K-5th. $68 per day. 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

Thanksgiving Break Explorers Camp at Sellers Recreation Center

301 S Villa Ave, OKC

Kids ages 6 to 12 can participate in new and exciting games, make new friends and go on field trips around OKC. $75. 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Schools Out Day Camps at OKC Zoo

2000 Remington Pl, OKC

Kids ages 5 to 12 can learn about wild animals with themed camps exploring wild pairs, animal families and predators. Members, $54 per child; nonmembers, $60 per child. 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Thanksgiving Break Camp at SoccerCity OKC

4520 Old Farm Rd, OKC

Kids take part in fun, age-divided, skill-building activities for all skill levels including beginners and recreational players. For ages 4-15. $85-$150. Morning session: 9 a.m.-noon; afternoon session, 1-4 p.m. All-day and half-day options available. 405-748-3888, lilkickers@soccercityokcity.com

Kidz Rock Thanksgiving Break Camps at OKC Recreation Centers

Various locations

Kids ages 6 to 17 can take part in a wide variety of fun-filled activities. Lunch and snacks provided. $10. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Thanksgiving Break Magic Camp at The Station Recreation Center

700 S Broadway Ave, Moore

Kids 6 to 12 years old can explore the world of magic and learn how to become a magician. $110. 1-4 p.m.

OKC Broadway presents Beetlejuice The Musical at Civic Center Music Hall

Based on Tim Burton’s dearly beloved film, this hilarious musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager whose whole life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and a demon with a thing for stripes. Parental discretion is advised. $35 & up. Tuesday-Thursday, 7:30 p.m.; Friday, 8 p.m.; Saturday, 2 & 8 p.m.; Sunday, 1:30 & 7 p.m.

Features a screening of Planes, Trains and Automobiles. $5. Tuesday, 7 p.m.; Wednesday, 1 p.m.

Edmond Turkey Trot in Downtown Edmond

19 N. Boulevard, Edmond

Features a 5K run and 1-mile Family Wobble. Strollers and friendly dogs on a leash are welcome and the best Turkey Trot costume will win a prize. Preregister. Proceeds benefit Turning Point Ministries. $15 & up. 8-10 a.m.

OKC Turkey Tracks 5K  in Downtown OKC

5th and Harvey, OKC

Features a 5K, 1-mile fun run and a post-race, pre-feast party. Benefits Toys for Tots. $25 & up. 8:30 a.m.

Turkey Day 5K  at Norman High School

911 W Main St, Norman

Features a 5K or 1-mile fun run of your choice on Thanksgiving Day. Benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma – Norman. Prices vary. 8:30 a.m.

Piedmont Turkey Trot

Features a 5K and one-mile fun run on Thanksgiving morning.  Participants can choose a virtual option. Benefits Bright Sky Ministries. $25 & up. 8:30-11:30 a.m.

OKC Phil presents Star Wars, Episode VI: Return of the Jedi at Civic Center Music Hall

The OKC Philharmonic will perform the exciting John Williams score live with the movie. $24 & up. 2 & 8 p.m.

FREE Lights on Broadway Holiday Event in Automobile Alley

Broadway Ave between 4th and 10th St, OKC

Features local shopping, window displays, pop-up activities, special promotions and giveaways, plus family-friendly programming including live music and performers. 3-7 p.m.

The Polar Express Train Ride at Oklahoma Railway Museum

FREE OKC Tree Lighting Festival at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark

Features a showcase of talented and diverse performances celebrating the season, free family-friendly activities, the chance for kids to meet Santa Claus and the traditional countdown to the lighting of the Christmas tree with Mayor David Holt. 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Little Women: An Immersive Holiday Experience at Harn Homestead

The quintessential coming-of-age story for generations, Little Women, follows the four March sisters as they grow up amid the backdrop of the Civil War. Utilizing the physical locations on the homestead, travel throughout the property with Marmee as she and a cast of beloved characters share their joy, struggle, love and loss. Chill Your Cheeks Run at Chisholm Trail Park

A Territorial Christmas Celebration in Downtown Guthrie
