As busy parents with ever-changing schedules, date nights have become few and far between. But we try to prioritize at least two a month to reconnect and enjoy time away from home. We’re always on the lookout for new spots and experiences an OKC date night, so when we heard about The Jones Assembly’s new pop-up experience, TJ Après, we knew we had to check it out.
From the moment we walked in, we felt transported to a cozy ski lodge, a dreamy setting tucked behind lush velvet curtains. The resort-themed space was filled with twinkling lights and warm, inviting ambiance — perfect for a magical date night. In 2020, we traveled with friends to Winter Park, Colo., where we enjoyed the snow-covered mountains and peaceful atmosphere. Ever since, I’ve longed to go back, and TJ Après brought that feeling right to Oklahoma City.
The food was incredible. We started with the Black Truffle Fonduta, chicken nuggets with caviar and tinned fish gratin — each dish beautifully crafted and bursting with flavor. And the drinks? Absolutely amazing! We were greeted with shotskis and indulged in a warm, spiked apple cider served in the cutest little tea cups. I also had the most delicious pistachio martini with ice cream, and my husband enjoyed his Cardamom Jeans, a nice twist on an old fashioned while waiting on our other delicious bites. Every part of the experience felt intentional and immersive, making it a date night to remember.
While TJ Après is only here until March 1, Oklahoma City offers plenty of ways to cultivate fun date night experiences year-round, and we love trying new things. We’ve been visitors of The Jones Assembly for a few years now, and it is a fantastic option beyond the pop-up, offering regional American cuisine, a trendsetting bar and a concert venue all in one. Whether you’re dining in the main space, enjoying cocktails in the elevated T Room or gathering on the heated patio, it’s a go-to for couples looking for a dynamic night out.
If you’re planning a family-friendly Valentine’s OKC date night, Spark is a fantastic option. With locations at Scissortail Park, Nichols Hills Plaza and Chisholm Creek, Spark serves up delicious burgers, bites and their famous frozen custard, crafted by experts trained at St. Louis Scoop School. Their Pink Fries and Frozen Club Special are must-tries, and for those seeking a lighter option, they offer flavorful bowls. My family and I frequently visit Scissortail Park and can personally vouch for Spark’s amazing burger bowls and delicious treats — it’s always a hit with our crew!
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be just one night — it’s an opportunity to explore, reconnect and enjoy an OKC date night. Whether you’re indulging in a cozy date night at The Jones Assembly, experiencing the winter magic of TJ Après, or making it a family affair at Spark, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this season.
From our family to yours, we hope you have a Valentine’s filled with love, laughter and memorable moments in our wonderful city!
