Ode to Mom

by Mecca Rayne

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Mother’s Day is a time to appreciate moms, whether birth, bonus, step or any other version of a woman who has cared for another at any stage in life. So, when I think of Mother’s Day, it is a moment to celebrate the women who are in a lifelong commitment to loving their families and children. It requires great sacrifice, multitasking, worrying, time, extreme effort, a new education on things you didn’t know you didn’t know to keep this child alive and thriving to the best of your and their ability.

So, this is my toast to you, ladies. We see you, we recognize you and we salute you. I can’t think of a better superhero than Captain M.O.M.

Show mom you appreciate all that she’s done

I will always be a fan of showering mom as soon as she opens her eyes. Waking the kids up a little earlier to put together a thoughtful breakfast. Remember your skill isn’t what matters here – the thought you put into it will likely always outweigh the end result itself.

This is a time to turn the kids into the chef and the wait staff. Make it fun! Treat mom as the most important person in the room.

Now let’s get up and out for Mother’s Day!!

Magnolia Med Spa (2404 NW 178th St, Edmond) is a new addition to the metro! It specializes in pampering loved ones, self-care and celebrations! This Mother’s Day, Magnolia will host a day dedicated to mom and daughter(s)! Their “mom and mini facial” is sure to be unforgettable.

The spa’s owner, McKayla Girton, has a special surprise for customers. She is a mom and she knows it will be a gift moms will cherish and look back on fondly! There are gift certificates available! And you can follow them on Instagram @magnoliamedspaok to stay up to date on specials.

My other suggestion? Book a cruise!!! An OKC River Cruise Mother’s Day Dessert Cruise! What’s better than a short cruise with several sweet treats to try. They even offer a mimosa to wash it down! There are two departure times according to the website. You can choose 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. – whatever suits your family’s schedule.

No matter what you do, do it in love from start to finish. Cheers!

P.S. Don’t forget flowers or wine or cookies AND A CARD!
