July 11 - Structural Engineering, 1-4 p.m.
Step into the role of a structural engineer and answer the questions of how we can build structures better able to withstand disasters with the help of Benham, an architecture and engineering company. Beginning on touchscreen tables in the Inasmuch Uncover-Discover STEM Lab, families will test building materials and structures against natural and manmade disasters before designing their structures.
July 18 - Environmental Science, 9 a.m.-noon
Learn how environmental science was used to turn the bomb site into a beautiful memorial to honor those impacted by the Oklahoma City bombing. Hear from Urban Forestry Services legend Mark Bays about the care of the Survivor Tree and the benefits of plants and trees in downtown Oklahoma City. Then, create your own landscape design for the Memorial on our touchscreen tables.
July 25 - Forensic Science, 1-4 p.m.
Students will become forensic investigators with the UCO Forensic Science Institute. On the touchscreen tables in the Inasmuch Uncover-Discover STEM Lab, students will sort through real artifacts to follow the trail of evidence to convict the perpetrators of the Oklahoma City bombing. Then, students will learn real techniques used in the field to solve crimes in 1995 and today.
