Geekapalooza: A STEAM Festival for Kids

November 08, 2020 to November 13, 2020

For those joining us live during this week, please submit a photo of your child performing their favorite STEAM activity for a chance to win prizes such as a Factory Obscura Art Kit, Oklahoma A+ Schools Sail Kit, or STEAM Gift Bag from Plenty Mercantile. Find the contest details at

STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) education is the future for our state and our nation. Almost every job in today’s world — from food processing to automobile parts — is related to math and science. All it takes is a “spark” of interest to launch a child in a direction that can impact him or her for a lifetime.

Geekapalooza is designed to generate that spark and inspire action! Now in its fourth year, Geekapalooza: STEAM Festival for Kids is an event hosted by Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma and MetroFamily Magazine. This year, we’re going all-virtual, providing an exciting intro session and a fun series of 10, one-hour workshops designed to get kids involved in all aspects of STEAM.

Families can sign up to participate by choosing two levels of participation. The event launches at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 (which happens to also be National STEM/STEAM Day) with a welcome introduction and continues for the next five days (Nov. 9-13), with two workshop sessions conveniently held daily at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

With the upgraded VIP option, families will receive a box of materials for the projects, plus several coupons for an experience such as visiting a local museum or riding the zip line at Camp Trivera, the new urban Girl Scout camp located east of the OKC Zoo.

The sessions will be recorded so participating families can enjoy them again or watch them for the first time on their own schedule. Click here to join in on the fun by purchasing your Geekapalooza ticket until January 3, 2021. Your ticket gives you access to recorded workshops, downloadable materials, and activities!
