Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Editorial Assistant to join our editorial team. This part-time, remote position (approximately 16-20 hours per week) is vital to help ensure the quality, consistency and creativity of our parenting-focused content across print and digital platforms. The Editorial Assistant will participate in content creation, oversee content marketing projects, fact-check print and digital content, assist with our annual Cover Kids contest and help maintain relationships with freelancers, influencers, advertisers and the broader community.

Key Responsibilities:

Editorial Duties:

  • Content Marketing:
    • Identify and collaborate with advertisers on content marketing projects and assignments, based on editorial direction.
    • Assign writers for branded content, ensuring alignment with editorial standards.
  • Digital & Print Content:
    • Write regular content marketing, print, digital and blog articles.
    • Fact and style check print and digital calendars.
    • Update and maintain seasonal digital lists of fun things to do.
    • Seek out and assign writers for regular blogs.
    • Assist in editing print magazines.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Help identify and engage influencers to amplify our brand reach, overseeing their contributions.
    • Help identify and engage new freelancers and contributors for the brand, based on editorial priorities.
  • Cover Kids:
    • Help conduct interviews and oversee final decisions on which kids to feature.
    • Maintain regular contact with winners.
    • Schedule photoshoots, ensuring smooth execution based on editorial direction. Work directly with Cover Kid families and photographer.

Administrative Duties:

  • Participate in regular editorial meetings and contribute to editorial direction across print and digital mediums.
  • Supervise content marketing delivery using Media OS tools.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong editorial skills, including writing, editing and content strategy; extensive knowledge of AP style preferred.
  • Experience with SEO preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience collaborating with advertisers and managing branded content.
  • Creative vision with a passion for storytelling and community engagement.
  • Strong self-starter with excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to embody the values of MetroFamily and represent our brand effectively.
  • Commitment to inclusivity and social consciousness.
  • Familiarity with the Oklahoma City market and parenting space.
