Visit Factory Obscura for interactive family fun

Taking my kids to Factory Obscura for some interactive family fun, was such a unique and delightful way to experience art this summer! We went on a hot day and reveled in the AC and the permission to touch and explore the exhibits.

We did their Mix-Tape exhibit first. When you enter, you’re immediately transported to another world full of color and texture (and your kids are allowed to touch it all!). There’s no wrong path to take; it’s almost like a “choose your own adventure.” My kids darted from one hallway to the next, marveling at the different light effects, playing the video game, climbing the stairs and zooming down the slides.

Everywhere you look, there’s an interesting interactive element that sparks joy and curiosity. My 10-year-old’s favorite was getting to look at all the lights with his rainbow glasses. My teenager thought that the vintage-style video game was pretty cool. And I really liked the room with the dressing table that had karaoke playing! (You better believe I busted a move and proceeded to embarrass my kids right there in the museum.)

We said, “whoa!” and “look at that!” around every corner. My son loved the giant bunny-like creature at the entrance. From there, we marveled at an interactive light panel that changed as you tapped it. Of course, my kids proceeded to see how fast they could move and make the lights change at rapid pace. Next, we found a very cool mechanism for playing music on bells hung from the ceiling and another spot where you lay on the floor and look up at as the lights change in a kaleidoscope-like mural.

Time Slip will only be on display through September 30, so make sure to take your family to Factory Obscura soon for interactive family fun.

Every time we visit Factory Obscura, the whole family comes away inspired! It’s been over a week since we visited, and my kids are still continuously pulling out our craft cart to make their own colorful art.
