On my best weeks, Monday rolls around and you can find me with a clean house, a well-stocked fridge and pantry, and the energy and enthusiasm to tackle the week ahead. Nine and a half weeks out of ten, you can find me so very, very thankful for BOGO pizza nights at The Wedge. Every Monday night after 5, your Keep it Local card gets you (buy one get one) free pizza. If that doesn't start your week off on the right foot, I don't know what will! This deal is only for Keep it Local cardholders, and it's one deal per card.
Our family picked a beautiful Monday evening to take advantage of this great deal and dined outside at the location on Western Avenue (there's also a location in Deep Deuce). We had eaten there before, but had somehow missed the huge kids' area outside! There's a completely fenced area with a play structure, as well as games and toys for you to enjoy while you wait for your pizza. As the sun went down and the weather started to cool a bit, we took refuge on the heated outdoor patio. That gem ensures that you can enjoy outdoor dining year round!
It had been a while since we had eaten at The Wedge, so we took the opportunity to try out four different pizzas. Unless you go with the personal sized (eight-inch) pizza, each pie is 13 inches and comes with six slices. We tried a pepperoni with traditional marinara, The Italian Stallion, then built our own, one with pesto sauce and one with garlic-cream sauce. The wait wasn't long, but we ordered some Wedge Bread just to ensure happy, patient kids. We had plenty of food and even took home leftovers.
My middle two shared the pepperoni, the baby devoured the meatballs off of the garlic-cream pizza, my oldest has plans to tweak his creation (traditional marinara in place of the pesto next time), and my husband remembered that he had tried The Italian Stallion before, so we've got plans to go back and hit this deal up again soon!
The Wedge on Western offers a "grab and go" breakfast every weekday morning for $5, too. The selection varies (breakfast pizza, sandwiches, quiche, parfait) but always includes coffee or a drink. Both locations also offer brunch on the weekends and great lunch specials throughout the week. They also accommodate gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan diets.
There are a lot of pizza places in OKC, but only The Wedge can boast about being Oklahoma City's first artisanal brick oven pizzeria. They "focus on using only the freshest products available, making everything from scratch daily, often featuring ingredients from The Wedge gardens and local farmers." You can see those Wedge gardens right on the grounds of both restaurant locations. It was pretty cool (and very evident!) that the basil on our pizzas was picked fresh.
Here's to using every resource available to you to make your Mondays that much better. Cheers to BOGOs!
