The holidays are here and it’s such a wonderful time to reflect on all the blessings we have. When you have so much, it’s easy to forget that not everyone is as fortunate. This time of year is a great opportunity to be a blessing to someone in need.
Children in foster care through the Oklahoma Department of Human Services are just like the kids in your household. They all hope to have a visit from Santa or receive that special gift that’s been on their minds for months. Every year OKDHS partners with a host of metro organizations and programs to fulfill the holiday hopes of children and youth in state custody.
You can help, too! Beginning Nov. 1, by visiting one of the websites below, you can view personal wish lists of children and youth and purchase the gift they’re hoping for. It’s encouraged to spend at least $75 per gift, and detailed instructions regarding due dates and shipping and/or drop-off locations are detailed on each partner’s website:
- Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy
- Citizens Caring for Children
- Tulsa Advocates for the Protection of Children
- Citizens Advisory Board of Cleveland County
Use the hashtags #ourOKDHS #HolidayHope if you are looking for other ways to help, want to sign up to volunteer with a partner agency, attend events or spread the word about fulfilling wish lists on social media.
