by Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Finding great opportunities for kids during the summer can be challenging. Girl Scouts is offering a great opportunity for girls entering grades 4-8.

Nine special summer sessions will engage girls in fun, friends and creativity. The July workshops for girls will be held Mondays through Fridays with two sessions per day. Girls can sign up for all of the sessions at once, or do them as they fit into summer family schedules.

The sessions will be held the weeks of July 5, July 11, July 18 and July 25 in the first floor multi-purpose room of the new Girl Scouts-Western Oklahoma offices at 6100 N. Robinson in Oklahoma City. The morning session will be 8:30 a.m.-noon, and the afternoon sessions will run 1:30-5:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per girl/per session and includes snack, crafts and activities. Girls who want to attend both the morning and afternoon sessions are welcome to bring a sack lunch and hang out in the multi-purpose room.

The first deadline to register is June 25, so register today! It is open to all girls.

Sessions that will be offered include:

  • Strong Girls – Girls will work towards establishing positive, more trusting relationships with others in addition to learning how to hone their relationship-building skills.
  • NCIS Oklahoma – Girls setup a crime scene and then perform basic chemical tests on different powdered substances: baking soda, Fruit- Fresh, cornstarch, or baking powder, and observe and record the chemicalreaction when exposed to different liquids. Participants also test a mystery powder & determine its chemical content.
  • Body of Proof – Girls get excited and push boundaries, tes tlimits, and
look at the world around them with inquisitive eyes. Participants are introduced to activities relevant to everyday life. Whether they’re discovering how a car’s engine runs, becoming math whizzes, or learning about careers in STEM fields, participants are moving forward to the future.
  • Project Funway – Girls will learn the art of photography, design and fashion while developing their team building skills. Creativity and imagination are great attributes to have as you discover the world of fashion.
  • And more
