Oklahoma Wildflower Painting

Date/Time

October 24, 2026 to October 24, 2026
09:00 AM until 11:00 AM

Description

Painting is a non-stressful activity that anyone can do, even without experience. This class is led by Jay Tracy, who has taught beginning painting classes for nearly two decades.

Jay has selected Oklahoma’s beautiful native wildflower, the Indian Blanket for the class. Its red flowers, tipped with yellow petals, are based on the legend of a blanket maker who wove beautiful blankets, including his burial blanket, of the same bright colors. The wildflower now blooms prolifically on the Oklahoma prairie as a gift from The Great Spirit to remind people of the blanket maker’s beautiful craft.

Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing for painting, although an apron will be provided. Class will be held at the Victorian Rodkey House in Stephenson Park, just west of the museum at 410 S. Littler. Enrollment is for active military members and veterans and their family members (parents or children/grandchildren age 8 and up) or their caregivers. Each participant must be enrolled. Artists are asked to display their painting at the museum for the November 1940s Radio Theater production ofGlamour Glitz and Radio Scripts, date TBD.

Although this class is at no cost, it is valued at $50.00 per person. If you are unable to come, please notify museum staff so that someone else can fill the spot.

Max participants: 12
