Description
Features equestrian competitions including mounted saber, mounted pistol, military horsemanship, military field jumping and more. Competitors from across the nation will gather at Oklahoma's historic Fort Reno to exhibit their horsemanship skills and provide an opportunity for re-enactors and active and reserve military mounted color guards. Units from Forts Cavazos, Irwin, Huachuca, Riley and Sill will participate as well as civilian riders.
Competition begins at 9 a.m.
The Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall and Cost of Freedom Tribute will be on display to honor American sacrifices in the 20th and 21st centuries, including World War I, World War II, Vietnam, 9-11, Afghanistan and Iraq. The Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall is a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. The names of 990 Oklahoma soldiers who died in the war are on the wall.
The wall will be erected on Wednesday, Sept. 27, with an opening ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 8:30 a.m. The wall is open to the public at the Fort Reno parade grounds through Sept. 30. Gates at Fort Reno will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Both events are open and free to the public.
