Monarch butterflies are essential pollinators which have now been classified as an endangered species whose population has decreased dramatically in the last 20 years due to habitat loss and use of pesticides. Now more than ever, we need to act to ensure monarch butterflies and all pollinators thrive. Monarch Awareness Day activities are free with regular Zoo admission.
