Description
Plastic bags are distributed by letter carriers across the metro and in outlying communities. Residents are encouraged to fill these bags with canned goods and leave the bag by their mailboxes. Letter carriers collect the bags on their regular mail routes and turn them over to Food Bank volunteers at post offices around the metro.
Most needed items include: canned meats, meat-based soups, canned fruits, canned vegetables, peanut butter, and rice and beans. Monetary donations are also encouraged. In fact, every dollar donated will provide the equivalent of four meals to Oklahomans in need of food assistance.
An additional 50 volunteers are still needed to sort donations at metro-area post offices. For more information about volunteering, visit regionalfoodbank.org/volunteer or contact Sara Lorenzen at slorenzen@regionalfoodbank.org or call 405-600-3165.
