Potting Your Own Plant, Mango Room, Donations Accepted

Features a come-and-go event to celebrate the reopening of our Inasmuch Foundation Crystal Bridge Conservatory! We will be on site in our new Mango Room (that’s the classroom on the north side of the conservatory) potting up miniature plants to take home. Get specialized instruction on how to care for your new prize from the horticulture staff that takes care of all of the plants in our very own conservatory and gardens. Price varies according to size.

Houseplants 101, Sunday, November 20, 1-4 pm, Mango Room, Donations Accepted

Every thirty minutes, staff will talk about a different family of plants ideal for growing indoors and how to care for them, propagate them, and keep them stunning year-round. Families will include the orchid family, African violets, aroids, succulents, and more.

Muffin & Friends, Friday, Nov. 18, 2–3 pm, Discovery Room, Donations Accepted

Parrots and frogs and gorillas…oh my? There are so many animals and insects living in the tropical rainforests AND deserts, and you’ll be amazed at how they are adapted to survive in these unique habitats. Join us as we learn all about these creatures, and with eyes and ears open, we might just meet one of these very special animals in our own conservatory!

Taste the Rainforest!, Saturday, Nov. 19, 1-4 pm, Discovery Room, Donations Accepted

Join us in a come-and-go exploration through the tropics on a taste adventure. Did you know bananas grow in our very own tropical conservatory? That one might have been an easy one, but what about sugar? Did you know chocolate grows on a tree? In fact, a lot of our food and household goods come from the tropics! Come seek out these plants, taste them in action, and learn all about these products with us during our grand reopening.

Desert or Rainforest?, Saturday, Nov. 20, 2-3 pm, Discovery Room, Donations Accepted

Did you know our conservatory houses two distinct biomes: the desert and the tropical rainforest? While these two exist here together, they have very distinct characteristics and house very specific plants and animals. Join us as we learn the difference between them, what survives best and why, and go on an adventure to see for ourselves just how diverse and unique these two ecosystems are.
