FREE Second Saturday at Oklahoma Contemporary

March 13, 2021 to June 12, 2021
12:00 PM until 03:00 PM

This event occurs monthly, on the second Saturday of March, April, May, June

Features a socially distanced afternoon of outdoor activities designed with a focus on healthy engagement for the entire family.

April - April’s Second Saturday will recognize poets and their importance in contemporary art, including the large-scale sculpture on the North Lawn, The Stars Pulled Down for Real by Robert Montgomery. Enjoy performances from local organizations and poetry-inspired art projects, and kids can read their own words at the “Kids Open Mic.”

May - Since the printmaking-inspired Second Saturday was canceled in March due to weather, they are going to Reprint Frenzy in May! In celebration of Ed Ruscha: OKLA, this event will explore the fun and funky side of printmaking. Programs will include artist demos by design cookie artist Kaleo Maclay and experimental printmaker Virginia Sitzes, who will be printmaking on food items like tortillas and bread with chocolate and mustard. The day will also feature collaborative activities and printmaking projects -- including an art project inspired by Ruscha’s Chocolate Room.

Families are encouraged to bring a blanket, wear masks and enjoy the performances on the North Lawn and throughout the arts campus. Don’t forget to reserve your free timed slot to explore the exhibitions. You can also browse Shop Contemporary and sample the tasty offerings at Café Contemporary.  Tickets are limited. Get yours at

Please note, safety and health procedures will be in place to ensure a safe and fun event for everyone involved. The event is weather permitting. Read more about our COVID protocols here.
