Description
Features a behind-the-scenes look at state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility. Visitors will be able to view the 220-ton cyclotron, which accelerates protons to two-thirds the speed of light before being formed into a cancer-killing treatment beam.
Visitors can also participate in a “Touch-a-Truck for Childhood Cancer” fundraising event benefiting a Rainbow Girls project for teens battling cancer. Vehicles will be provided by Warr Acres Fire Department, EMSA, Ditch Witch, Duit Construction, P & K Equipment and the Kansas City Corvette Club.
In addition, the INTEGRIS Cancer Institute and Jim Thorpe Rehab Center will be open for tours. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the facility’s therapy dogs, view healthy living demonstrations, enjoy local food vendors and hear live music from the Gotcha Covered Band.
