Description
Features a Community Safety Day for residents looking to dispose of unwanted documents, prescription drugs and ammunition. The event will also offer car seat installs and checks to attendees, as well as free gun lock safety kits through Project ChildSafe.
Norman residents can take advantage of the following free disposal opportunities:
- Document Shredding: Residents can bring up to five boxes of documents to be shredded by Absolute Data Shredding. The free shredding event was created to provide citizens the opportunity to properly dispose of documents containing sensitive information, keeping their personal information out of the hands of criminals.
- Prescription Drug Disposal: Residents can bring any outdated, unused or unneeded prescription drugs to be disposed of in an environmentally responsible way. The Pharmaceutical Take-Back Program will be held in partnership with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics. Please do not bring syringes, liquid medications, or inhalers.
- Ammunition Disposal: NPD will provide an opportunity for residents to drop off old and unwanted ammunition to be destroyed. No explosives are allowed.
The event also features a number of safety resources including:
- Car Seat Checks and Installs: Car seat technicians with Safe Kids Oklahoma will be on-hand to teach residents how to install their child’s car seat or booster seat. Technicians will also be able to inform residents if it is time to change or transition their child to a new car seat.
- Free Gun Lock Safety Kits: Kits with firearm safety and responsible gun storage information will be available for pick-up in partnership with Project Childsafe.
Other community partners will also be onsite to provide safety resources and refreshments.
