Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration at Myriad Gardens

Features a variety of family-friendly activities that commemorate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. This special day will be filled with music, crafts and readings at the Park House Events Center and in the Inasmuch Foundation Crystal Bridge Conservatory as the Gardens honor Dr. King with performances by talented groups and artists.

Formal programming, Park House, 10–11:30 a.m.

  • Welcoming address from Councilwoman Nikki Nice
  • Coffee and pastries from Culture Coffee
  • Performances by DWe Williams and Ebony Voices
  • Society of Urban Poets
  • Emcee - Alan Washington
  • Douglass High School “Pride of the Eastside” marching band

Informal programming at the Visitor Lobby, 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m.

  • Read alouds with Ralph Ellison Library
  • Tampkins Family Art Exhibit Reception, 12 p.m.

Black Student Associations 

  • Activities with the Black Student Associations from OU and UCO

Food trucks

  • Eva’s Smokehouse BBQ
