Description
Baby-Led Weaning (BLW) is a method of introducing solid foods. With this method, babies feed themselves whole table foods! No need to buy purees! No need to make homemade purees! Your baby will start out eating whole foods that you prepare with the rest of the family meal. Your baby will feed themselves as you all eat together!
Did you know that research shows that this method can help you raise a child who eats healthier and is less picky?
Join us for this 2 hour class to learn all about how you can begin doing this in your own home. Our special guest Diana K. Rice, RD, LD, CLEC “The Baby Steps Dietitian” is a nationally recognized baby-led weaning expert and mom of two. She is a registered and licensed dietitian trained specifically in Baby-Led Weaning.
In this workshop, you’ll learn:
>> How BLW is different from puree feeding
>> The advantages of BLW
>> How to know when your baby is ready
>> Which types of food to start with
>> Appropriate sizes and textures to offer
>> Gagging vs. choking
>> Key nutrition information
>> How to introduce potential allergens
>> Recommended BLW gear
>> Tips for working with caregivers
Plus, all participants will receive an e-cookbook with BLW starter recipes and a reference sheet with key information from the workshop.
This is an interactive workshop that includes many visuals and videos. Participants are encouraged to ask questions along the way.
Both parents attending is highly encouraged.
Suggested age range: 4-9 months old but parents of infants 0-12 months old may benefit. You’ll learn about using BLW from the start as well switching to BLW if you’ve already offered purees.
