Be inspired by the stories of First Americans
Thirty-nine Tribal Nations call Oklahoma home today, each with their own vibrant cultural practices, unique histories and contributions to our state and communities. First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City honors the ancestors who lived in Oklahoma before it became a state and shares the diversity of all 39 Nations who live here now.
The majority of Indigenous people did not come to Oklahoma by choice, but through forced removal and relocation from across the United States. Those histories and cultural lifeways have shaped Oklahoma.
In partnership with First Americans Museum, this series below shares the stories of inspirational modern-day First Americans paying homage to their heritage and making Oklahoma a better place to live, work and play.
