American Mothers, Inc., a national nonprofit organization honoring mothers across the country, is currently seeking nominations for their annual awards, including 2013 Mother of the Year, Young Mother of the Year and Mother of Achievement. The deadline for Oklahoma nominations is Nov. 15.
“Our goal is to recognize and thank moms for the many jobs they do on a daily basis and the significant contributions they are making in the community and our country,” said Connell Branan, president of American Mothers, Inc. “We are searching for those ordinary mothers doing extraordinary things, and we invite anyone to nominate an inspirational mother in their life.”
To qualify for the National Mother of the Year award, at least one of the nominee’s children must be over the age of 18. To qualify for the Young Mother of the Year award, all of the nominee’s children must be under the age of 18. The Mother of Achievement award recognizes those outstanding women whose positive influence, talents and community service have made a significant impact in the lives of children and families. “It has been a true honor to represent young mothers across our country in 2012,” said Carrie Leonard, 2012 Young Mother of the Year. “Whether we work full-time, part-time or stay at home, each of us shares the common bond of motherhood. I applaud American Mothers for recognizing the importance of this very hard yet rewarding job and thank them for taking a moment to pause and recognize mothers.”
Previous winners from Oklahoma include Barbara Thompson and Betty Anthony Zahn
The winners of these awards will be announced and honored at the National Convention held in April at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. A Mom to Mom Conference is held in conjunction with this event and offers motivational and educational opportunities for women. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
