Affordable Food—It's in the Box!

Have you never really gotten the hang of couponing? Or, are you looking for ways to supplement your couponing with affordable food? There are a few places from which you can order pre-selected boxes of food at discounted prices and they are open to anyone!

Two local food ministries offering affordable food boxes are:

  • Mid-America Foods— A Family box of food costs $29.50 and offers a different menu every month.. The August Family Box has 4 (6oz) portions of Boneless Pork Chops, 2 1lb packages of ground beef, 1 lb Italian Sausage, 5lb of individually quick frozen boneless chicken breast, 12 oz Canadian bacon, 1.25lb of popcorn shrimp, 1lb butterball 85-15 ground turkey, 1lb strawberries and 1lb broccoli florets. Boxes can be ordered online and paid for with Visa, MasterCard, or PayPal.
  • Angel Food Ministries-—A Signature Box costs $35 (plus tax) and they also offer a different menu every month. The August Signature Box has 4lb Perdue tray pack chicken leg quarters, 4-6oz steak burgers, 1.5lb Perdue tray back boneless skinless chicken breast, 1lb deli sliced ham, 1lb Roger Wood sausage dogs, 2lb Mac and Beef, 1lb ground turkey, 2lb heat and eat Cheesy Broccoli Soup, 1lb 80%/20% lean ground beef, 1lb spinach, 1lb carrots, 1lb green beans, 1lb triple vegetable blend, 1lb broccoli, 24 oz steak cut French fries, 1lb yellow sweet corn, 1lb sugar snap peas and 1lb California blend veggies. They accept cash, money order, food stamps and credit or debit cards. Credit or debit card orders can be made online, but you must call the location to order if you are paying with food stamps, cash or money order.
