As Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library celebrates 31 years of inspiring young readers, Pioneer Library System (PLS) remains committed to championing early literacy throughout our communities. PLS is partnering with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to put FREE books into the hands of children under the age of five every month!
Inspired by her father and his inability to read and write, Dolly Parton launched the Imagination Library in 1995 with a simple but powerful vision: provide children in her home county of East Tennessee with books of their own and encourage them to dream, learn, care and grow. Today, the Imagination Library reaches children in five countries and continues to transform lives through the gift of reading. One of the most meaningful ways to honor Dolly’s legacy is to continue the work she began, carrying it forward with the same generosity, humility, joy and love that have defined the program from the start, ensuring every child has the opportunity to discover the joy of books and the power of imagination.
How it works:
Parents may register each child (under age five) in the family online or complete a bilingual paper registration form. You will then receive an email directly from Imagination Library confirming your acceptance into the program. Each Imagination Library book is expertly selected, age-appropriate and personalized with your child’s name on the mailing label. Every month, a book will be delivered directly to your home for a special experience that will help get your child excited about reading.
