Ready to put a little more fun into your next run? The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden is teaming up with Red Coyote and Boldt for an evening run through the zoo on Thursday, August 27.

The Red Coyote Zoo Run Club will kick off at 6 p.m., giving runners the chance to explore the zoo’s 100-acre park along an approximately 3-mile course. The event is designed for runners of all paces and abilities, so you don’t have to be a serious runner to join in.

Even better, your miles will support monarch butterfly conservation. Proceeds from registration will benefit the OKC Zoo’s efforts to protect monarchs and their habitats, with the first $5,000 raised matched by Boldt. The zoo supports monarch conservation through research, pollinator gardens, a milkweed headstart program and other efforts throughout Oklahoma.

The timing of the event is especially fitting, as monarchs begin their fall migration through Oklahoma around this time of year. So while you’re making your way through the Zoo, you’ll be helping protect some of Oklahoma’s most important pollinators.

Registration is required, and space is limited to 1,500 runners, so don’t wait too long to sign up. Participants can also demo footwear and enter to win prizes. Runners 21 and older with valid ID can sample Boldt Brew, a Belgian blonde ale from Iron Monk Brewing Company.

Whether you’re looking for a new way to get active, want to support conservation or simply think running through the zoo sounds pretty awesome, this is one evening event worth checking out.
