3 Noon Year’s Eve Events for Families in OKC

Reading Time: 2 minutes

When my kids were younger, the New Year’s Eve dilemma was that they couldn’t stay up until midnight. They’ve gotten older, and so have I. Now I’m the one who wants to go to bed early!

Either way, the OKC metro offers families plenty of opportunities to count down to the last noon of the year so you don’t have to stay up so late!

  1. Several metro area libraries are hosting Noon Year’s Eve parties. Gather for a mid-day celebration to countdown to the final noon of the year and enjoy festive crafts, dancing, balloon drops and more. It’s a perfect way to welcome to the new year and still get to bed on your family’s schedule.
  2. Head to Seminole to the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum’s Noon Year’s Eve Celebration on Tuesday, Dec. 31. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature festive crafts, a bubble hop, dance party, refreshments and a countdown with a balloon drop. The event is free with museum admission. Ages 3-59 are $10, 60 & over are $9; and 2 & under are free.
  3. Unleash your creativity with an epic cardboard masterpiece for the annual SMO Noon Year’s Eve Parade! The community tinkering and crafting project begins when the museum opens and the parade kicks off just before noon. “Noon Year’s Eve is the perfect opportunity for families to get out and spark creativity and innovation during the school break,” said Sherry Marshall, CEO of Science Museum Oklahoma. “Each year, the floats get more imaginative, and we can’t wait to see the amazing creations our guests bring to life this time!” Families can bring their own supplies but the museum will also have some on hand. Activities are free with museum admission.
