Want to Go to Bootcamp?

by Kristina Pressley

Reading Time: 2 minutes

I returned home last week from the 20-year class reunion in Minnesota that I’ve been talking about forever. In a word, it was….disappointing. There were 91 kids in my graduating class back in 1991. I saw only about 20 of them at my reunion – many of whom I’d already seen in the recent years when visiting home. Although it was good to see those few, it was disappointing NOT seeing everyone who didn’t show up. If any of those former classmates happen to be reading this, poo on you for not coming to our reunion! Twenty years is a long time and it would have been good to catch up!

While I was in Minnesota, I did a little running. The lower temperatures were nice, but the humidity didn’t make for easy running. I ran in a 5K fun run with my sister and my mom. My mom pushed baby Lydia in the stroller – it was her first, actually, both of their first races. My mom walked the whole way and did so great – I was really proud of her. My sister and I ran a decent race, too. It really was a fun run.

My class reunion had been my “Gotta get FAB before the reunion” goal since I had the baby last year. Awesome motivation! But now I have to come up with another something to keep me motivated. Let me tell you… I think I know what it is. I am ADDICTED to boot camp! In my last blog I wrote about Sooner Adventure Boot Camp and how much I was loving it. Unfortunately, with a vacation and my big girl starting kindergarten this week, I haven’t been able to keep going this month. I’m hoping to get back to it in September.

For me, the best part about boot camp was the diversity! Every day was a different workout, a different set of exercises. One day we’d do a lot of running drills with a bunch of ab moves. The next day, it might be a kickboxing workout. For the last few years I’ve been a devoted runner. The boot camp even made that better! I took nearly a minute off my average mile pace. Mixing it up really made a huge difference in my over-all FABulousness! (Is that a word? It must be!)

So, here is the good news for YOU!

Candelon Jones, owner and coach of Sooner Adventure Boot Camp is sponsoring a giveaway though this blog. The giveaway includes a four-week women’s boot-camp session at Sooner Adventure Boot Camp (a $199 value). Classes meet at SHOCK Sports Center in Norman, with indoor and outdoor activities planned. Meeting three days a week for one hour each day, your Adventure Boot Camp session lasts a total of four weeks.

Women of all ages and fitness levels benefit from friendly, professional trainers who ensure everyone works at their own level and that no one is left behind or eaten by narwhals. Boot campers will condition their core, navigate obstacle courses, run distances less than one mile, kickbox, undulate ropes, pilot through Pilates, and build muscular strength, among many other aerobic activities. You also get a beginning and ending body composition evaluation – which I found to be really great information.

All you have to do to enter is make a comment on this blog about why you need / want to attend a fitness bootcamp. We’ll randomly select the winner on August 31 and the winner will have six months to use the membership!

So, make a comment, enter now and let’s get fit!
