Never hear the words ‘I’m bored’ at a RIVERSPORT Summer Camp! RIVERSPORT is ready for a summer of adventure with 2020’s week-long day camps for kids ages 8-15. RIVERSPORT Camps introduce kids to rowing, paddling and/or sailing, and many come with added activities like zip lining across the Oklahoma River, climbing the SandRidge Sky Trail, RIVERSPORT Rapids whitewater rafting and the new Surf OKC experience, coming in late summer.
“The kids have a great time,” said RIVERSPORT Director of Paddlesports Aasim Saleh. “Some of the kids that try the rowing and kayaking camps find they love the sport, and come back to try OKC RIVERSPORT Junior Crew or Junior Canoe/Kayak.”
RIVERSPORT OKC provides all the equipment, a snack and a T-shirt. Participants are required to bring a lunch. Day camps are available in the RIVERSPORT District and Lake Hefner, with half day and full day options. Prices start at $175 a session. Camps start May 18 and run all summer long. Enrollment is accepted to until the Friday before each camp starts.
There is a new summer camp option at Lake Overholser. The North Canadian River, the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge and surrounding areas make the perfect setting for campers to learn water-safety basics and explore the native Oklahoma ecosystem. During the week-long, half day camp, campers take part in water-based activities including fishing, kayaking, canoeing, dragon boating, and stand up paddle boarding on the North Canadian River. Off the water, campers observe nature, explore Lake Overholser’s trails on scooters, go on nature treks, and make new friends while playing outdoor games. Currently two camp sessions are scheduled: June 8-12 and June 15-19 from 8am to noon. RIVERSPORT will adjust number of sessions available as demand dictates.
