I’m in love with kabobs! They’re just super easy to prepare and make you feel so fancy. Doesn’t everybody love food on a stick? I’m not sure why, but anything on a stick is way more fun than off a stick. Offer anybody the same food – one on a stick and one off – and they’ll take the skewered dish every time. Here is a super easy way to prepare kabobs with pineapple.
Prep time: 5 min. Cook time: 8-10 min
Ingredients
1 sirloin steak, fat trimmed and cut into bite size pieces
1 fresh pineapple
1 large onion
Metal skewers (if using wood skewers, make sure to soak them in water for 10 minutes prior to preparing kabobs)
Directions
Preparing the pineapple
Cut off top and bottom. Stand the pineapple up on one of the fresh cuts you just made. Using a sharp knife, slice off the rough, outer skin. Shave off any “eyes” that are still left on the pineapple. Cut down the center, lengthwise. Cut each half again lengthwise to end up with four long pieces. Remove the core by slicing off the center of each quarter. Slice each quarter into bite size pieces.
Making the kabobs
- Quarter onions, remove outer skin, and quarter each quarter.
- Assemble kabobs by sliding meat, fruit and onion on each skewer until full. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Grill at 550 degrees for approximately 3-5 minutes per side (or until meat is cooked to your preference).
