Open year-round, the Edmond Farmer’s Market serves as a vibrant community hub where residents gather to discover fresh, locally produced foods and goods. The Farmer’s Market was founded in 1988 and joined the City of Edmond’s Parks and Recreation Department in 2004. Since then, the Farmer’s Market has tripled in size, now regularly hosting more than 75 local vendors, including gardeners, bakers, food manufacturers, ranchers and artisans.

Emily Harmon, marketing and special events coordinator for Edmond’s Parks and Recreation Department, manages the Farmer’s Market and loves talking about the incredible value it brings to the community.

“Our Farmer’s Market offers shoppers a unique experience,” said Harmon. “We’ve been very intentional in our growth and have spent a great deal of time talking to customers as well as vendors to learn what people need and want.”

Harmon explains that many people have questions about today’s modern food sources, and the Farmer’s Market provides the perfect opportunity for shoppers to speak directly with local producers about how their food and goods are made.

“We are very proud that everything offered in our market is 100 percent Oklahoma-grown, made and manufactured,” Harmon said. “Our vendors represent small businesses run by individuals who are committed to their craft and working within their own gardens, kitchens and workshops. They are the foundation for the local shopping movement at our Farmer’s Market.”

Every purchase, great or small, makes a meaningful impact by supporting a neighbor’s livelihood and the community’s economy. It’s also inspiring the next generation, with one vendor being a high school student who harvests and sells gourmet mushrooms.

On a personal note, Harmon shared that shopping at the Farmer’s Market has helped her family make healthier food choices and reduce her grocery bill — dispelling the common belief that buying fresh and local is more expensive.

Between Saturday markets, midweek summer sessions and an indoor winter venue, Harmon encourages everyone to find a time to shop and experience the market for themselves. From fresh produce, meat and baked goods to specialty items and handmade wares, the Edmond Farmer’s Market is a one-stop shop that is sure to become a family favorite.
