New to the scene is home furnishing store West Elm that has set up shop in northwest Oklahoma City. If you have never heard of — or visited a West Elm before, you are in for a real treat. Not only do they pride themselves on offering moderately-priced home furnishings (and some of the snazziest decor), but have also stepped it up when it comes to partnering with local artisans.
I was invited to tour the new showroom on 6100 NW Grand Boulevard for a sneak peek before they open their doors to the public. West Elm is notorious for practical living and relaxed modernity which made viewing their new showroom a real treat. When you immediately enter the space you are greeted by well-styled displays that can easily translate into your home. Whether you are looking for rustic serveware pieces, a new sofa, or a light fixture to turn heads, they have a ton to view.
One area that kept my attention was the West Elm Local display that features amazing finds from folks right here in the Oklahoma City area. Graphic designer Rachel Shingleton of Pencil Shavings Studio has an assortment of paper goods for the taking — while married duo Candice and Jon of Love Well Handmade impressed with their textiles and art. Also present was handmade letterpress stationery from Wednesday co-owners Jessica and Garrett Mayfield. It's great to see a major company like West Elm creating partnerships with local small businesses that we can support.
