Two sessions will be hosted from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, with families choosing which they will attend. Advanced admission will be $12 per family (up to four people; additional people in the group will be charged $5 each; advanced purchase available until midnight on Thursday, June 20).  Tickets purchased at the door will be $15/family of four and $6 per additional person.

Purchase your tickets here and save.

The event will encourage kids to learn about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) topics through hands-on expo booths hosted by local organizations and short, kid-friendly workshops about subjects such as robotics, coding and geoscience, taught by trained leaders. The booths and programs are geared to kids ages preschool to middle school and for boys and girls.

Encourage your kids to participate in the Geekapalooza costume contest, held during the last 30 minutes of each session.

What will your kids do at Geekapalooza?

They’ll be able to interact with numerous businesses and community partners that want children to get excited about Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM).

Where is it?

Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) is located in between Lincoln Blvd and I-235 off of NE 10th Street. It’s just a bit east and north of the GE Building.

I didn’t pre-purchase tickets. Can I still attend?

Yes! Even if you didn’t purchase tickets early, you can pay at the gate. Admission the day of the event is $15 per family of 4 and if you have additional attendees in your party, they will cost $6/person. You may pay by cash or credit/debit cards.

Do I need to bring my ticket with me?

Ideally you’ll have your emailed ticket up on your phone as you come in the gate.

I’m volunteering for the event. Will there be water/snacks provided?

Yes! We’ll have staff going around to provide water and snacks to volunteers.

How will I know where everything is?

Upon entering the event, you will receive a site map and schedule of all the activities of the day.

What are the hours of the two sessions?

The morning session is from 9 am to noon. You can only stay after noon to finish eating but you will need to be off the grounds by 12:45 to allow the next set of attendees to come in. From noon to 1 pm, the booths will all be shut down. The afternoon session is from 1 to 4 pm. We will start letting people in through the gate for the second session at 12:15 pm so that you can eat via the food trucks. The exhibit buildings and hands-on activities will open at 1 pm.

What should I expect at the event?

The campus of OSSM is beautiful! Once you get through the admission gate, you will be able to enjoy STEAM activities at tables/booths outside under the trees, in the classroom building and in the school’s cafeteria where there will be 14 businesses offering hands-on activities. Start anywhere you want, just be sure to try to see and experience it all. The only thing that is scheduled are the demonstrations, presentations and the costume contest in the classroom’s auditorium (see below for schedule). Also outside, check out the activities provided by Rose State College and the Maker Mobile of the Pioneer Library System.

If you’re hungry, take advantage of the food trucks that will be available between 11am and 3 pm.

What is the Geek Costume Contest?

Come dressed in your “geek-iest” outfit and you can participate in the Geek Costume Contest. You could win tickets to local attractions!

What about the food trucks?

The food trucks will be at the event from 11am-3pm.

Where can I park?

There is parking at OSSM but also at businesses nearby, including the Banc First, Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce and Ratcliff’s Books located across the street south of OSSM. Be prepared to walk a bit as the close-by parking lot may get full.

What do I do if I need to change my session?

We’ll have the registration lists for both sessions at the front desk. Please just explain your situation to the registration volunteers and they’ll do all they can to accommodate you.

What if I bought tickets but cannot come?

Tickets are non-refundable but you can let someone else use them.

What happens if there is bad weather on Saturday?

Unless there is severe weather (especially active lightning), the event will go on. If needed, we will move as many activities as we can inside. We’ll all need to be weather aware on Saturday! Check the MetroFamily Facebook page for the latest info on the day of the show.
