Joseph (9) and Jayme (6) like to be active in the summer and they love being in the water. Our favorite writing assignment last summer was covering local spots for water fun for the July 2014 issue of Metro Family. The places that we visited were such a hit that we plan to re-visit many of the locations again this summer.
A perfect day for us would be waking up to sunshine and eating our favorite homemade pancakes. Then we would load up and journey to Andy Alligator’s Water Park so we can be there the minute it opens. Andy Alligator’s Water Park is just the right size to entertain my kids without being overwhelming. There are enough features that they stay busy, not bored, and I feel that they are safe thanks to the awesome lifeguards and staff.
Exhausted from the water park, we would refresh and recharge at the Dairy Queen in Moore just up the street. Nothing beats a Blizzard from DQ!
After several sunny hours, we would need to cool off by watching a movie at Starplex Cinemas at the Northpark Mall. We discovered this awesome and affordable spot while writing Family Fun for $25 for the August 2014 issue of Metro Family.
Then it would be time to head home and grill up some dinner. We try to avoid cooking indoors all summer, so the grill is where the action happens. Cheeseburgers, chicken, pizza, calzones, sausage and steak are all favorites on the grill.
After dinner, we would play outside or cool off with another swim. The night would end with some stargazing before everyone got some much-needed sleep!
