Philip Keith Armstrong, interim executive director of Greenwood Rising, joins us to talk about the historic opening of this important museum, built at the entry point of the Greenwood District. Booker T. Washington once referred to the district as a “Black Wall Street.” Unfortunately, the success and prestige of this area are overshadowed by the tragic events of the Tulsa Race Massacre beginning May 31, 1921. The museum tells the stories of those who survived and those who were killed and helps us all engage in conversation around reconciliation through ownership of the past.
