Applications are now being accepted for Arts Council Oklahoma City’s Youth Art Sale, which allows young local artists to display and sell their creative works of art at the 58th annual Festival of the Arts.
The Youth Art Sale is a one-day event open to all local artists ages 8 – 18 and is a great opportunity for the next generation of Oklahoma artists to showcase their talents to the community. This year’s sale will be on Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
“Our community is full of talented young artists looking for an opportunity to shine a light on their outstanding creations,” said All Access Arts Director Nick Caudle. “Each year, we’re blown away by the talent of Oklahoma’s next generation of artists and encourage artists of all styles and genres to apply. From jewelry to sculptures to paintings, the artwork is always an impressive example of what the students in our community are passionate about.”
All of the artwork displayed at the Youth Art Sale must be an original design and creation of the young artists, who can keep 100% of the proceeds from the sale of their art.
“The 2023 Youth Art Sale was the most competitive in history, with over 100 students applying for a spot on Festival grounds,” said All Access Arts Coordinator Liliana Gordon. “The students selected last year set a Youth Art Sale record for sales, prompting us to grealy increase the footprint of this year’s event and double the number of young artists selected.”
Not only is the Youth Art Sale a moneymaking opportunity for young artists, it is an opportunity for them to explore what it takes to become a professional artist.
“This project serves as a wonderful learning opportunity for young artists who will hopefully be part of the Festival of the Arts for years to come,” said Arts Council OKC Executive Director Angela Cozby. “We welcome all young local artists to apply and look forward to seeing the creative masterpieces from some of Oklahoman’s top young artists.”
Artists must personally be present at their booths during the entire day. Representatives, including family members, may not attend in place of the artist and all artists must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Only items as represented in submitted photographs with the application may be displayed. For example, if photos of jewelry are submitted, you may not sell sculptures that were not submitted.
Booth spaces will be 3′ x 5′ in size and artists must provide all display materials including tables, chairs, or panels, as well as cash boxes and/or credit card readers.
Applications are being accepted until March 10. To apply, visit artscouncilokc.com/youthartsale.
