Enjoy the magic of Ballet Under the Stars

One of my favorite events from last year is back!  Attending Ballet Under the Stars with my mom and sister was a highlight of my September. We brought tons of snacks and a blanket to sit on and had the best time watching the Ballet Oklahoma dancers from the lawn at Scissortail Park.

These dancers are incredible! Their artistry and athleticism blend together with every move. I just had to keep picking my jaw up off the floor!

If you’re planning on attending this year’s event, make sure to arrive early to get a good spot on the lawn. This is a perfect introduction to the ballet for audiences of all ages because you don’t need to sit still and stay quiet for an entire performance . In fact, watching little children dance along to the music near their families is part of the magic!

Here are a few things to bring with you to make your night even more fun!

  • A waterproof picnic blanket or camp chairs
  • Bug spray (mosquitos and I have a love/hate relationship. They love me and I HATE them.)
  • A cooler filled with drinks and snacks. Might I recommend some flavored seltzer water, a charcuterie board (grown-up lunchables for the win!), and this lemon icebox pie! You could also bring some wine or a non-alcoholic mocktail, if that floats your boat.

Now you’re ready to sit back, relax and enjoy Ballet Under the Stars! I’ve been waiting a whole year to do this again!

Emiley Bainbridge was a dancer for entire childhood (thanks mom and dad!) and still practices her pliés and tendus on a regular basis. She is the editorial assistant at MetroFamily Magazine. She’s married to Russ and the mom of Olivia and Nicholas. Emiley is passionate about her family, Oklahoma and baked goods and enjoys reading, musical theater and dance parties.
