The STEAM Engine is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners with schools, after-school programs, libraries and other youth-serving organizations to bring STEAM programming to their communities. They help kids, especially those from populations underrepresented in STEM, to develop the confidence and skills they need to pursue higher-wage careers in STEM.
In their after-school clubs and summer day-camps, 3rd-8th grade students increase awareness about STEM concepts and careers, build confidence through mentoring relationships, and develop learning and innovation skills through hands-on learning. Current themes include Thrills and Spills Rollercoaster Engineering, Wands and Wizards (Harry Potter-inspired STEAM exploration), Making PLACES (City Planning, Design and Construction) and Build a Better Space Glove (Engineering Design Process).
In Fall 2022, public programs will be available in Edmond and South OKC
