This is a great time to talk to your kids about saving money for the New Year. Talk about the different kinds of money and the benefits of saving. Help you child identify a goal for the year (a new toy, book or even a charitable donation) and calculate how much money they would need to save to meet that goal. This "do it yourself" bank is easy to make, fun to decorate and a great way to teach kids about the importance of saving.
Supplies:
- Pringles can, coffee can, jar
- Scissors/Exacto knife
- Construction paper
- Stickers
- Markers and crayons
- Ruler
- Glue or double sided tape
Directions:
- Clean the container you are going to use. Next make a hole in the top of your can using scissor or an exacto knife., big enough for the largest bill or currency you will be depositing.
- Secure the top onto the container.
- Cover the entire container with paper
- Decorate it with markers, crayons and stickers.
- Don’t forget to add some money at the end to help your child get started towards their goal!
Happy saving!
