Voting is now open in UScellular’s fifth annual Black History Month Art Contest with Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County. Community members can vote for their favorite piece of original art online at newsroom.uscellular.com/black-history-month-art-contest/.
The top three vote-getters will be announced in late February. New to the 2024 contest, the top three first-place submissions with the most votes will also be named national winners and will receive an additional prize money and their home Club will receive a $1,500 donation.
Up to 10 finalists from each Boys & Girls Club, including Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County, were chosen by Club representatives and local UScellular leaders based on creativity, quality, interpretation, clarity of theme and overall impression. Voting will remain open until Feb. 15, and anyone 18 or older can vote for their favorite. The finalists’ artwork is also digitally displayed in two Oklahoma City stores, including the locations at 6310 S.W. Third St. and 2130 W. Memorial Rd.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County members created original pieces of artwork representing influential Black STEM icons. These included historical figures, world leaders, scientists and educators who have made vital contributions to the world of science, technology, engineering and math.
