When the weather’s nice, there’s nothing my family loves more than eating outdoors. Whether we’re grabbing a quick bite before playing at the park or enjoying a long dinner under twinkling lights, patio dining gives us a chance to slow down and soak up everything we love about Oklahoma City.
With three kids in tow, we’re always on the lookout for restaurants that have patio dining with family-friendly vibes, good food (obviously!) and room for kids to be kids. Here are a few of our personal favorites for the best patio dining in OKC — perfect for your next outdoor dining adventure.
Hall’s Pizza Kitchen
Midtown
This rooftop patio has our whole heart. It’s cozy year-round, thanks to heaters and blankets in cooler months, and the view of the OKC skyline? Unmatched. It’s one of those spots that makes you pause and think, “Wow — this is a pretty incredible place to live.”
The staff at Hall’s always go above and beyond to make our whole crew feel welcome — especially our kids. That kind of thoughtful service makes a huge difference. And while every pizza we’ve tried is delicious, the Sunday Lunch (brisket, roasted potato, jalapeños and onions) is something special. Don’t leave without trying one of their house-made desserts — trust me.
Spark
Scissortail Park + Nichols Hills + Chisholm Creek
This colorful burger joint is made for families, and it’s a favorite stop before or after playing at Scissortail Park. We love the classic combo of a flavorful burger, their pink fries and creamy custard — and the patio looks right out onto the park, so it’s perfect for people-watching and soaking in the sunshine.
Spark also has locations in Nichols Hills and Chisholm Creek, both with great outdoor dining spaces. The Chisholm Creek patio is especially fun — the nearby playground gives kids room to roam while parents can actually enjoy a meal. Imagine that!
Barrios Fine Mexican Dishes
Midtown
Tucked behind this restaurant is one of OKC’s prettiest patios — a lush little courtyard that feels like a secret garden. It’s shaded, peaceful and full of charm. Barrios is our go-to when we want something a little more elevated but still laid-back enough for kids. Their enchiladas are always a solid choice, and the chips, salsa and guac disappear quickly at our table.
Empire Slice House
Plaza District
Rain or shine, Empire’s covered patio is a win. With heaters in the winter and a cool breeze in summer, it’s a go-to year-round. This is also one of our top picks for dining with a crowd — the vibe is relaxed, kid noise is no problem and the pizzas are big enough to feed the whole gang.
Favorites in our house? The Doug E Fresh and Figgy Stardust. Their salads are fresh and flavorful, too, which is a nice balance to all the cheesy goodness.
Whether you’re meeting friends for a night out or grabbing a quick family meal after soccer practice, these spots offer some of the best patio dining in OKC. We’re so lucky to have so many restaurants that have patio dining options that are welcoming, delicious and perfect for making memories — one slice, scoop or taco at a time.
