Back-to-School Community Celebrations

Say so long to summer break at one of these community celebrations happening in the Oklahoma City metro!

Aug. 2

Back to School Bash at Westwood Water Park (2400 Westport Dr, Norman) features an after-hours community celebration. $5. 8:30 – 10:30 p.m.

Aug. 10

FREE Back-to-School Slip-Slide Family Celebration at Family of Faith Church (13500 SE 15th St, Choctaw) features family activities including a huge slip and slide, inflatables, hot dogs and more. 9 a.m. – noon.

FREE Back-to-School Fest at Classen Curve (5825 NW Grand Blvd) features a performance by Spaghetti Eddie, crafts, face painting, balloon twists and free snow cones. 2 – 4 p.m.


Aug. 18

FREE Wild World Back-to-School Carnival at People’s Church (various locations) features inflatables, pony rides, extreme animals, snow cones and food trucks. See website for times and locations.


FREE Block Party at Nichols Hills UMC (1212 Bedford Dr, Nichols Hills) features hot dogs, homemade ice cream, music, Bingo, games a giant Slip-N-Slide, water games, face painting and more. All ages welcome. 5 – 7 p.m.

Aug. 20

FREE Power Up for Back to School at the Southwest OKC Library (2201 SW 134th St) features  a pizza party to celebrate the start of school. Dress up as your favorite superhero & use your powers to complete challenges throughout the library. 5 – 6:30 p.m.

Aug. 24

Slide Outta Summer at Mitch Park (1501 W Covell Rd, Edmond) features inflatable water slides, a live DJ and food trucks. There will also be a sand play area for non-sliders. All ages welcome. $5/slider. 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
