If you’re like me and have children with significant age gaps, finding activities can be challenging and sometimes a daunting task. Thankfully when we visit the Oklahoma City Zoo, we don’t have to worry about activities for our wide age range of kids.
We visited the zoo this past weekend, and it was nothing short of fantastic. We connected with wildlife! Every day, zoo guests of all ages connect with the zoo’s more than 1,000 animals through naturalistic habitats and up-close viewing opportunities, so if you’re looking for a fun way to explore with your family, the Oklahoma City Zoo has so much to offer.
Upon arriving at the zoo, we went through the check-in process and started our adventures. Our first stop was the kids’ play area for the petting zoo because the kids didn’t miss out on the opportunity to brush the goats. We then went on to the flamingo mingle and, boy, did we enjoy that! I think it’s safe to say that the flamingos enjoyed it as well. We also visited Sanctuary Asia, home to Indian rhinos, Komodo dragons, red pandas and a herd of Asian elephants including a little calf, Rama. We also got to check out the cat forest to see the Sumatran tiger twins, Luna and Bob, then visit the African lion pride at Lion Overlook including the little lion cubs, Neema, Zahara, Makena and Mshango.
The OKC Zoo is the best of the best! There’s so much to do! Oklahoma Trails has been named one of the top 10 Best Zoo Exhibits in the nation by the 2023 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest. Which is just super awesome! Oklahoma Trails is also home to wildlife native to the Sooner State, including bison, mountain lions, turkeys, black and grizzly bears and more!
Last but certainly not least, we got to experience the all new Gorilla Trek. Gorilla Trek is the zoo’s new VR experience that takes you through the jungles of Rwanda to see mountain gorillas up close! It was quite an experience. I think it’s safe to say that we made the most out of our time as a family and will definitely be back to experience more of what the OKC Zoo has to offer. So if you’re looking for a fun way for your family to explore and connect with nature, grab your tickets fast and enjoy your time!
