6 Must-Visit Indoor Playgrounds and Play Places in OKC

Mon Ami Play Studio

Reading Time: 5 minutes

As a mom who’s always on the hunt for fun and engaging spots to take my little ones, I’ve discovered some incredible indoor play places and indoor playgrounds in OKC that I have to share with you. These are more than just places to burn off energy — they’re cozy, imaginative spaces where kids can explore, create and connect while parents can truly enjoy the moment.

From intimate Montessori-inspired settings to inclusive sensory-friendly play zones and even a cosmic adventure, I’ve rounded up my family’s personal favorites.

Let me walk you through these amazing indoor playgrounds and play places in OKC — you might just discover your new favorite hangout, too!

Mon Ami Play Studio

Expend extra energy at Mon Ami Play Studio, a indoor play place for kids 5 & under. Mon Ami is a Montessori-inspired indoor playground that feels like an open-concept living room in a beautiful home. You and your little one will find mounds of fun in the blocks, life-like kitchen toys, tiny jungle gyms and a variety of textures on the wall and floor to touch.

The space is a little smaller and more intimate, meaning you will always be able to see where your child is, which is a nice feature, especially with younger kids. And because this is such an intimate space, it’s a great place to make a new mom friend or two!

We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym

We Rock the Spectrum is an inclusive indoor playground. We Rock the Spectrum specializes in fun kid equipment and toys for children with a wide range of neurological growth and varying physical abilities. I was pleasantly surprised by the zipline area, and it was definitely Tink’s (my 4-year-old) favorite part. It’s easily accessed by small children, and the area is set up to catch their falls at any moment with large cushions and bean bags below.

This play place has a few different types of swings, with several of them low to the ground. Kids can lay down all the way and sway to and fro. It’s a nice way for them to cool down or relax, and a unique feature.

My favorite thing about We Rock the Spectrum is that it is truly inclusive for children with a variety of needs and abilities.

There are three locations in the metro- Edmond, Norman & Yukon.

Into Space Indoor Playground

One small step for toddlers, one giant leap for parents! This new place is located in Edmond and the theme, of course, is all things space! What parent doesn’t love a new place for children to explore?

It’s a familiar set-up. Sign waivers, pay and your children are off. But don’t forget they need grip socks to play. If you do forget, they have them for sale. Then, kids can enjoy the slides and jungle gym. It’s colorful and open, but not as big as some of the other indoor play areas nearby. It’s a little cozier.

They offer snacks and drinks to purchase. And the staff is friendly and kind!

Science Museum Oklahoma

Many local museums offer great places for kids to play, too!

As you peruse both floors, you get to introduce your kids to science through water, movement, sand, experiments, dinosaurs, art, live shows and much more. Plus, there are multiple play places where kids can crawl, jump and use their imaginations! I love the gymnastics area and the small track where kids can race.

Don’t miss the outdoor area for a stroll (or run!) through the gardens and time to play in the sand with mini excavators.

After all that, take a break at the new Love’s Planetarium! This is by far a 10-star experience. Take a moment to relax and sit back as the solar system comes to life.

National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum

While we are talking about museums, this one is superb. It represents the West so well.

When we visit The Cowboy, we start by looking at the art. As we cruise through, there are little activities set up for kids to take breaks here and there. They can sit and color or play with little figurines.

They also love seeing the life-like horses and cowboys! There’s even an area dedicated to the rodeo, and I appreciate that the history includes women and minorities.

Inside Prosperity Junction, step back in time to walk through a 1900s town, including a church and schoolhouse. You can even get a feel for what being arrested might have been like! Outdoors, you can find replicas of Native living spaces, as well as a waterfall and a playground.

This is also a great place to take grandparents! I could not wait to take my dad to this museum because he grew up watching Gunsmoke and Lone Ranger.

OKC Underground

Take a special trip downtown and explore the colorful tunnels below the ground — literally – through 20 square blocks of walking (and maybe some running). I don’t know about you, but I love anything that is going to give the kids a very natural tiring out.

While you walk through the tunnels (which are stroller-friendly), there’s artwork and photographs for kids to take in and ask questions or make comments on what they see.

Bonus: Oklahoma City Museum of Art

At first glance, you might think taking your kids to an art museum has no place on your list of daily toddler activities, but I beg to differ. And I bet the Oklahoma City Museum of Art folks would agree.

I took my two-year-old boy and four-year-old girl to the museum and, before we went into the galleries, I let them, and their imaginations, run wild in the family room. This room is wide open, and it has the most awesome set up to create art with coloring supplies and incredible easels. While roaming around the room, my kids discovered tiny instruments, plastic animal figures (which are the apple of my son’s eyes right now) and a few dozen picture books.

Now if you have toddlers and want to explore the galleries, bring a stroller. In my opinion, you’ll want that assurance that you can reign in the kids should they get a wild hair and want to touch the paintings or crawl on top of the sculptures. If you have it, you can always buckle them in and stroll quickly from exhibit to exhibit.

For the most part, my kids did very well visiting the museum and the family space was our favorite part! Admission for young people 17 and under – FREE! That alone is a reason to go!
