DIY: Make a Decorated Money Bank
This is a great time to talk to your kids about saving money for the New Year. Talk about the different kinds of money and the benefits of saving. Help you child identify a goal for the year (a new toy, book or even a charitable donation) and calculate how much money they would need to save to meet that goal. This "do it yourself" bank is easy to make, fun to decorate and a great way to teach kids about the importance of saving.
Supplies:
- Pringles can, coffee can, jar
- Scissors/Exacto knife
- Construction paper
- Stickers
- Markers and crayons
- Ruler
- Glue or double sided tape
Directions:
- Clean the container you are going to use. Next make a hole in the top of your can using scissor or an exacto knife., big enough for the largest bill or currency you will be depositing.
- Secure the top onto the container.
- Cover the entire container with paper
- Decorate it with markers, crayons and stickers.
- Don’t forget to add some money at the end to help your child get started towards their goal!
Happy saving!

Cute
Such a cute idea. And lord knows I LOVE my pringles. I will have to start saving my cans. Well okay maybe I don't like pringles much, but I like the thought of pringles. They make me think of my mother. Now that woman LOVED her pringles. As a matter of fact I know she would have used this idea herself when she was working with kids. She would have been having the kids make a lot of banks with all the cans she would have collected.
Hmmm with all this talk about pringles I think I might have to go buy me some. Then when I am done I think I will make this project with the kiddos. We can eat the pringles as we make it!! Oh how fun this is going to be.
