Voted one of the 12 ‘must-run’ marathons in the world by Runner’s World magazine, the 26.2 miles of the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon are packed with cheering supporters. The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is unlike any other marathon, as it combines the personal challenges of running a marathon with the emotion of a shared national tragedy.
This marathon is a Boston qualifying USATF-sanctioned event on a certified 26.2 mile, single loop course. Entrants must be 16 or older on race day to register for the marathon, which will begin promptly at 6:30 a.m. The start line is located on Robinson Avenue between NW 6th St and NW 5th St, at the east entrance to the Oklahoma City National Memorial.
Also, the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Relay allows runners and walkers of all levels to participate offering a kids marathon, a relay, half marathon and Memorial 5K.
Volunteers are needed to support runners at Gorilla Hill. A huge inflatable gorilla and volunteers; many dressed in banana costumes, will greet runners throughout the morning. This year, food trucks and Mutt Radio will join the Gorilla Hill festivities.
Volunteers are invited to come out to Gorilla Hill any time from 7 a.m. to noon to add to the positive energy. No banana costume required.
