FREE Saturday for Kids at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum

Date/Time

Apr 7, 2018 to Nov 2, 2019
10:00 AM until 12:00 PM

This event occurs monthly, on the first Saturday of January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November.

Description

Features a variety of themed, hands-on activities for kids to explore the history of the American West.

Monthly themes and activities:

May - Oklahoma Animals: Meet Oklahoma animals at a special 45-minute presentation by the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Gardens at 10:15 a.m. Following the presentation, make a fun animal craft and see what animals you can find represented in the Museum’s art collection.

June - Cowboy life was not all about taking care of cattle. Out on the range or on long cattle drives, cowboys also had to take care of themselves. Discover how they cared for their day-to-day needs and what they did for entertainment.

July - Enjoy a variety of activities to celebrate Independence Day including a cake walk.

August - Learn how to read a brand and then create your own design.

September - Many modern games have Native American roots. Test your skills as you play traditional games like Game of Grace, ring toss, and more.

October - Put on your favorite cowboy gear and join us for stick horse barrel races, roping, and more at the Little Buckaroos Round-Up.

November - Make your own tipi and personalize it with symbols that are meaningful to you.

For ages 4 – 12.

Free for children and accompanying adults. Activities available while supplies last.
