Election Day, by Jennifer

Election Day, by Jennifer

Election Day is in just over a month and no matter which way you lean politically, this is a great learning opportunity for your kids!  We’ve been studying the presidents all year and will add in some election activities in the next few weeks, too.  Here are a few fun ideas you might want to try:

  • With your older kids, review this poster about how to become president.  They may not understand that it’s not just a matter of getting the most votes!
  • Let your kids vote!  We’ve done a dinner vote before, but you could choose anything you want—an outing, a DVD to watch, a game.  Just have fun with it!
  • Have an election night party!  Make some of the presidents’ favorite foods and try them out.  We’ve been using this list all year and we’re going to make some of our favorites for election night.  You can also try these election party games.
  • Last but not least, vote!  Take your kids with you and let them see how it’s done!

Happy planning!

About This Blog

MetroFamily is pleased to introduce you to our two homeschooling bloggers, Kami and Jennifer! Lean more about both of them here:

Kami McManus is a work at home mom to 10 yr old Connor and 4 yr old Haleigh and Air Force wife of 11 years to Tim! The McManus family moved to Oklahoma City a little over 2 years ago. Kami is an Air Force brat herself and now so are her children!

As a licensed in-home childcare provider, the education of her "charges" and her own children has always been a priority, but now she and her husband are making their children's education a MISSION!

Share in the McManus family's adventures as they strap on their educational combat boots and charge the front lines to invade the world of homeschooling!

Jennifer Geary is a wife of one and mom of two who is back home in Broken Arrow after Air Force-sponsored detours to Omaha and Oklahoma City.  An elementary education graduate from the University of Oklahoma, she decided to leave her “regular” teaching career behind to homeschool her son and daughter.

When she’s not educating, feeding, or cleaning up after someone, Jennifer likes to read and scrapbook.  You can read about all of her adventures at Little Things.
