Oklahoma City is alive with fun, family entertainment around every corner and we've hand-picked the top 10 FREE events happening across the metro this month.  Its easy to have fun all month long at any one of these family fun events. The best part is that all these fun things to do are completely FREE!

Here are our picks of the top 10 FREE things to do this October:

Oct. 1

FREE Animal Well-Fair at Westminster Presbyterian Church (4400 N Shartel Ave) features a pastoral blessing of the animals, an ask-a-vet booth, The Humane Society’s  adopt-a-pet tent, pet memorials, pet portraits, food trucks and more. 3 – 5 p.m.

Oct. 7

FREE Saturdays for Kids: Dia de los Muertos at National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum (1700 NE 63rd St). Celebrate the Day of the Dead by decorating sugar skulls, make paper flowers and enjoy face painting inspired by La Calavera Catrina. Preregister. 10 a.m. – noon.

FREE Things that Go Bump in the Night at Martin Nature Park (5000 W Memorial Rd) features a daytime presentation about the nighttime happenings of Oklahoma’s nocturnal creatures. Preregister. For ages 6 & up. 3 – 3:45 p.m.

Oct. 10 - 14 & 17 - 21

FREE Fall Y'All Family Fun at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame (1400 Classen Dr) features fun, themed activities for the whole family including story time, crafts, movies and a community art project. 10:30 a.m. Each day has a special themed planned.

Oct. 21

FREE National Weather Festival at the National Weather Center (120 David L Boren, Norman) features hourly weather balloon launches with local TV meteorologists, emergency response vehicle and equipment displays, weather-themed superheroes "The Weather Friends" and more. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

FREE Chisholm Trail Celebration at Express Ranches (2202 N 11th St, Yukon) features hands-on learning experiences, photo opportunities, live music & other entertainment and games. 10:30 – 4:30 p.m.

FREE Fall Into Art at Martin Park Nature Center (5000 W Memorial Rd) features an annual celebration of nature and art with art exhibitions, hands-on activities, kids' nature creations and more. All ages welcome. Preregister. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Oct. 29

FREE Open Streets OKC in South Oklahoma City (S Robinson Ave) features local food trucks and wellness ideas and activities. A portion of South Robinson will close to motorized traffic to encourage active transportation such as biking or walking. 1 – 5 p.m.

FREE Day of the Dead Festival in the Plaza District (NW 16th St) features a parade, art, dancing, music, activities (for kids and adults), vendors, food trucks, group art show, annual La Catrina Procession and more. 1 – 7 p.m. 

FREE Magic Lantern Celebration in the Paseo Arts District (Paseo Ave) features a night of light instead of fright. Children of all ages are invited to "come as they are" and transform themselves with the help of local artists and join in on a costume parade on the labyrinth painted on the street. 3 – 6:15 p.m.
