Oklahoma City is alive with fun, family entertainment around every corner and we've hand-picked the top 10 FREE events happening across the metro this month.  Its easy to have fun all month long at any one of these family fun events. The best part is that all these fun things to do are completely FREE!

Here are our picks of the top 10 FREE things to do this January:


FREE Art Adventures at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art (555 Elm Ave, Norman) features a story and hand-on art project built around a weekly theme. For children ages 3-5 with adult. Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m.

Jan. 1

FREE First Day Hike at Lake Thunderbird State Park (13101 Alameda Dr, Norman) features a moderate two-mile hike with complimentary hot chocolate, coffee and healthy snacks afterwards. Dress appropriately and bring binoculars. 1 p.m.

Jan 4

FREE Science Story Time at the Norman West Library (300 Norman Center Ct, Norman) features a fairy-tale themed story time about Cinderella and a wind-powered coach activity. Preregister. Best suited for ages 3 – 8. 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Jan. 6

FREE Saturday for Kids at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum (1700 NE 63rd St). Explore the art of beadwork and design themes, and make your very own beadwork samples to take home. For ages 4 – 12. Free for children and accompanying adults. 10 a.m. – noon.

Jan. 9

FREE Icy Cold Science Lab at the Edmond Library (10 S Boulevard, Edmond). Explore the colder side of science with ice-cold experiments. Preregister. For ages 5-12. 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Jan. 13

FREE Family Make + Take Art Project at Oklahoma Contemporary (3000 General Pershing Blvd) features an art-making project inspired by works of art on view at the museum. All ages welcome. 1 – 4 p.m.

Jan. 15

FREE Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration in Oklahoma City (various locations) features a parade, silent march, bell ringing, job fair and more. Activities, 9 a.m.; parade, 2 p.m.

Jan. 18

FREE Robot Coding at the Northwest Library (5600 NW 122nd St). Students will write code to program a Code-a-pillar, Ozobot, and Sphero. Preregister. For kids in grades 2nd - 5th. 4 – 6 p.m.

Jan. 25

FREE Escape the Library at the Northwest Library (5600 NW 122nd St). Kids ages 12 & up can use clues and solve puzzles to see if they can escape before the time runs out. 7 – 8 p.m.

FREE Family Game Night at The Station at Central Park (700 S Broadway, Moore) features a variety of different games like Monopoly, card games, Ping Pong and more. All ages welcome. 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.
