Summer camps in and around Oklahoma City are great opportunities for your kids to learn new skills, make new friends, get away from screens, explore the outdoors and more! Memory and Mind Science Workshop will be hosted July 9-12 for ages 10-18 and is designed to help students learn memory and mind science principles, a unique code based learning system and much more. Hosted at the Holiday Inn near Quail Springs. Cost: $175 if register by June 30; $199 after that date. 405-761-8615.
Kaleidescape at St Mary’s Episcopal School in Edmond has room in two of their camps this month, Nature Quest, June 11-15, and Down on the Farm, June 25-29. Hands-on activities to go with these themes will be offered during each week. Held at the school’s north Edmond campus, the camps are for ages 3-11 and meet from 8:30-2:30 (extended day option until 5:30). Cost: $180/week. 405-341-9541.
Cross Creek Stables offers numerous week-long camps through July for ages 3-16. Campers are matched with a horse at the beginning of the week and receive instruction on all aspects of basic horsemanship in a safe, interactive, hands-on environment. Edmond First United Methodist Church offers half-day camps from June 18-July 26 for kids age 3 through 4th grade with themes such as Secret Agent, Animal Planet and Cooking. Cost: $80/week. 405-341-0107.
National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum hosts half- and full-day camps for ages 8-15 from June 18-July 27. Led by experienced teachers, each session features age-appropriate themes, crafts, games, art projects, stories and snacks. Cost: $120-$280/session.
Soccer Shots North OKC Area offers an intro-to-soccer program for ages 2 to 8 with an emphasis on character development. With locations in Edmond, Oklahoma City and Yukon, the weekly fun-packed sessions are held for nine weeks from June to early August. The Oklahoma History Center's History Pioneers Junior Curator Camp lets kids ages 8 - 12 learn about early explorers in Oklahoma and create their own exhibit. Cost: $150. July 16 - 20 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Register online or call 405-522-0793
Classical Ballet School's Summer Under the Sea Camp offers kids ages 3 - 7 an imaginative introduction to the Cecchetti Method, a classical ballet technique. Class sizes are limited. 4 - 5:30 p.m. Enroll by calling 755-5540.
SPARK Day Care Program at First Presbyterian Church offers all-day care for kids in pre-K to 8th grade. This year’s theme is Road Trip 2018 and activities encourage kids to “travel” across North and South America. Fun classes, workshops, swimming trips, field trips and more are also provided. Oklahoma City Girls Art School offers GIRL POWER Summer Art Camp for ages 8-16 from June 18-22 and July 9-13, 9am to 4pm. Held at 706 West Sheridan Ave, Suite C, OKC, the camps provide visual art instruction by teaching artists, mindfulness and yoga. Cost: $300/camp. 405-996-8373.
Oklahoma Children's Theatre offers weekly camps with a range of activities for ages 3 to 16. Hosted at Oklahoma City University, 2501 N. Blackwelder, these camps include subjects such as dance, theatre, magic, filmmaking, visual arts, coding and video game design. All-day and half-day sessions are offered through Aug. 16. Cadence Equestrian offers indoor and outdoor horseback riding instruction for students ages 5 to 16 at 14150 S. Pine Street in Edmond. Half-day, full-day and overnight camp experiences are available, with a variety of activities that include grooming and tacking, horse care and safety, showmanship skills, stable chores and arts/crafts. Harn Homestead at 1721 N. Lincoln Blvd. offers Territorial Fun Day Camp for ages 6 to 12 June 11-15 that focuses on Oklahoma’s Territorial history, outdoor skills, recycling and farm life. $175. Sibling discount and before/after care available. Enroll by June 1. 405-235-4058.
Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma Camp DaKaNi features day camp for ages 5 to 13 at its 33-acre campus on Hefner Road in Oklahoma City. Camp is available from 9am-3:30pm. Activities include kayaking, gardening, ziplines, ga-ga ball, rock climbing and more. Accommodations for children with special needs can also be discussed with camp personnel. Cottonwood Creek Ranch offers summer camp sessions through Aug. 3 at 907 N. Chisholm in Oklahoma City. Week-long camps offered from 9am to 3pm for ages 6-14 to learn how to brush, saddle and ride horses, with lessons taught by qualified trainers and safe horses. Other activities and crafts included. YMCA Camp Classen offers day and overnight camp for ages 6 to 17 at its campus in Davis, OK. Activities vary by age but include outdoor play, horseback riding, crafts, group games and making new friends. Studio J School of Dance at 420 S. Santa Fe, Edmond offers day camps for ages 3 and up for new as well as experienced dancers.
