30 Day Mom Challenge Day 27—Do one thing that is good for your health

30 Day Mom Challenge Day 27—Do one thing that is good for your health: walk 10 minutes, eat a piece of fruit or get a good night’s sleep.

As a 40-something working mom, this can be difficult task for me to master. I eat well (and have a family who shares my love for fruits and vegetables), and I may never get more than one good night’s sleep in a row, but I can move. Well, usually.

I’ve addressed the fact before—I don’t often take the time for myself, but I am working hard to change that. A recent string of physical therapy appointments for lower back pain that was 99% stress-related forced me to slow down and take time for myself. After taking time to heal the initial injury, I learned to relax and embrace this time that I was given—a full hour to worry about nothing but myself. A gift of exercise, relaxation and a little meditation.

I took this with me when physical therapy ended and have learned to carve out time to exercise more, which is my major concern. I’ve learned to respect my need for movement, which for me provides huge stress relief. True, it proved a bit stressful at first to carve out that time, but in the end, the rewards are great.
